Aus Tel Aviv in Israel kommt Know Hope (Jahrgang 1986). Sein Stil zeichnet sich durch einen hervorstechenden „Marionetten“-Charakter aus. Seine narrative Street Art besteht aus Wandbildern, Sammlungen und ortspezifischen Installationen, die auf Beobachtungen von sich selbst und seiner Umgebung beruht. Seine Heimat Tel Aviv und die Nähe zum israelisch-palästinensischen Konflikt, mit den verbundenen Fragen nach Identität, Grenzen und gemeinsamer Menschlichkeit, beeinflussen sein Leben. Know Hope betont jedoch immer wieder, dass er kein politischer Künstler sei. Durch die Schaffung von Parallelen zwischen politischen Situationen und emotionalen Bedingungen entsteht der Versuch, den politischen Prozess und Dialog als einen emotionalen Mechanismus wahrzunehmen. Die Kompositionen von Know Hope bestehen zum Teil aus Schutt und Baumaterialien wie Holz, Ziegel oder verwittertem Papier, denen ein schlaksiger Jedermann innewohnt, der sein Herz auf der Zunge trägt und für die prekäre aber wertvolle Verbindung zwischen den Menschen steht. Seine erste Solo-Ausstellung „Temporary Residence“ fand im Jahr 2008 in der Galerie Anno Domini in San Jose, Kalifornien statt. Weitere Ausstellungen gab es 2009 bei Ad Hoc in New York unter dem Titel „Insecurities of Time“, sowie im Jahr darauf in Toronto (Titel: „There Is Nothing Dear / Nothing Is Too Much Dear“). Auch für 2014 und 2015 sind Projekte und Ausstellungen in New York, Paris, Los Angeles und Tel Aviv geplant.
Over the past decade, Know Hope (pseudonym) has developed a visual iconography and language used to mirror real-life situations and observations, and document the notion of a collective human struggle. By creating parallels between political situations and emotional conditions, there is an attempt to perceive the political process and dialogue as emotional mechanism, therefore making it a conduct that can be understood intuitively and not solely intellectually. These processes take place both indoors and outdoors, in the form of site-specific installations, murals and assemblages, combining ready-made materials, mixed media pieces, photographs and text. By placing these works in public spaces, Know Hope aims to make the separation between the emotional and political non-existent, and allow the viewers to see themselves in the larger context of their surroundings simply by recognizing each other. Know Hope has worked and exhibited internationally and has projects and exhibitions scheduled in NYC, Paris, Los Angeles and Tel Aviv throughout 2014 and 2015.
